In the late 70's and early 80's, I was turned onto the new sounds of hip-hop. Songs like “The Adventures Of Grandmaster Flash On The Wheels Of Steel” and Sugarhill Gang's “Rapper's Delight” had a fun and fresh sound that appealed to my young ears. By the mid 80's, I was spending my allowance and lunch money on the records of all the big-name hip-hop artists of the day. But by the early 90's the honeymoon was over for me - my love-affair with hip-hop was coming to an end as the music began to distance itself from it's original party vibe.

It turned out that the hip-hop that I had liked so much was really just a collage of samples from songs that had a funky break. As my interest in hip-hop waned, I began discovering the original hits that old-school hip-hop was built on. My excitement only grew when I realized that the roots of hip-hop were based in music that spanned three decades and a very wide spectrum of genres - everything from disco-dance-floor-fillers to soul-love-ballads. I have been loving and collecting the music from this era ever since. With the advent of the internet, I have been able to expanded my research and the collecting
of this wonderful music.

In August of 2009, while surfing the internet for new music, I discovered Dave "The Morpher" Marley's postings on YouTube and followed his link to Morpher Radio. Since discovering Morpher Radio on
that fateful day, I have stopped listening to all other radio. Not only is Morpher Radio a continuous stream of my favourite music, but it is supported by a group of dedicated, crate-digging DJs who clearly
love their craft and are committed to sharing their favourite music with the world. Every day their shows introduce me to new musical gems.

It is a pleasure and an honour to be a part of such an amazing initiative.
