Hi there a little about myself, I am a 45 year old father to two teenage boys,
entrepreneur and music lover, some call me a soul anorak, but I just enjoy
good music and an avid collector of the rarer tunes around, my tastes in music
haven’t changed much over the years, my first love in music has to be
Jazz, but this doesn’t stop me appreciating all genres, and you will
see as we get to know each other on the show, the spectrum of tunes, moods
and eras is one not to be missed, I hope to share my passion for my record
collection with you all.
Growing up in East London, listening to my parents collection of records,
with influences from the Caribbean, think I was dancing before I was walking.
The one of the very first record (yes vinyl, not 8 track, reel to reel, cassettes
or cd) I remember blowing me away was Teena Marie’s Behind the Groove
which I heard at Crackers (Remember those Friday afternoons the prelude to
the weekend) DJ influence from Crackers was the legendary George Power. Those
were the days of happy times, happy tunes and a big influence on my musical
tastes of today, I was also influenced back in the day by Horizon radio and
JFM (Barrie Stone), Invicta and Radio Luxemburg,
musical influences was the sounds of Motown and Philadelphia, modern day musical
influences are cameo, Intro, Adina Howard, Jodeci and the UK sensation Beverley
Knight.
Reggae influenced a lot of younger years, with input from David Rodigan. And
many many fantastic sound systems, you guys know who you are!
My friends and I dabbled in ‘pirate’ radio broadcasts, to get
our sound system heard, as well as djing and guest spots around London Town.
But alas work and family commitments had forced me away from this scene and
I’ve been quiet for many years until now, I did a guest spot on Chris
the Shirts show one Sunday afternoon and that’s where I find myself,
back here entertaining you on a Tuesday afternoon.
Away from the radio, I enjoy my cars, driving, family and cook a mean curry,
I’d like to give a big thanks to Dave Marley
and all at Morpher Radio for giving me the opportunity to share my music with
you all.
Yours truly
Lee Dale
