Profile
I
started to D.J when I was 14 years of age and I am now in my early forties.
It all started with a local youth group and by the age of 15 I was inspired
by great artists such as Lonnie Liston-Smith, Ronnie Laws, George Duke, and
Teena Marie. With such great Soul Artists to listen to I was totally hooked
and have been buying fantastic Dance Music and ‘D.J.’ing’
ever since!
From 1983 I was
playing London Pubs with my mobile Disco and then in 1984 moved into Club’s.
This started with Thursday and Friday Nights at an East Side London County
Club. Then by 1986 I was doing Main Nights at many London Venues. I had a
big following, playing serious Jazz Funk and Soul music, as well as Disco
Music of the 70’s. By 1987 I moved to venues generally on the West side
of London. This included another Country Club and various other Clubs and
Wine bars. During this time I also played for a Late Night Pirate Radio Station,
with the music I love and still play to this day, which is almost 30 years!.
I am currently doing
joint sessions with another D.J. ‘Roman K’
which we call ‘FUNKYTOWN’ and play Jazz Funk and Soul. At this
time we play at a venue called ‘Q-VARDIS’ in Uxbridge, West London.
Our venue dates can be found here on the ‘Vinyl
Morpher’ website.
There is a long
list of D.J.s’ that have inspired me over years, but some of these include
Robbie Vincent, Greg Edwards, Chris Hill, Tom Holland, Jeff Young, The Late
Great, Froggy, Steve Walsh, Mike C, Roman K and of
course, Dave;‘The Vinyl Morpher’.
At this point I must thank
‘DAVE THE MORPHER’ and a big thank you for all your help and support.
It’s good to join the ‘Morpher’ family!.
Hope you all enjoy my shows!
All the Best,
Steve Montana
